Wilma Jean Heflin was born on July 2, 1938, in Bald Knob, Ark., the daughter of Cecil and Sadie (Sarrels) Elder.
Wilma passed to her new life Saturday, March 18, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
On Aug. 2, 1958, Wilma was united in marriage to L. D. Heflin. She was formerly employed by Chatoes Nursing Home (Dowagiac Nursing Home), Burnette Foods, Duffy Motts, Lawrence Freezer and until her disability in 1983 at both the Old and new Community Hospitals. She was a member of the Keeler General Baptist Church.
Wilma is survived by a daughter, Marcia (David) Roper; a son, Joey Heflin both of Hartford; five grandchildren: Tara (Joe) Pratl, Joshua Petersen, Jessica (Matthew) Pethick, Tamara (Cameron) Lawson and Brittany Heflin, and four great-grandchildren: Kayla Pratl, Jayden Lawson, Brooklyn Pethick and Lily Lawson.
Wilma and L. D. enjoyed each others company until his passing on April 23, 1991. Her parents, and three sisters: Norma Elder, Flora Glaze and Juanita King Hilton also precede her in passing.
As to Wilma's wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Harrison Cemetery, Decatur, with Pastor Mike Heflin of the First Church of God in Decatur officiating.
