William Edward Wagner, of Decatur, was born on Aug. 19, 1934, in Watervliet, the son of Lloyd and Thelma (Burg) Wagner, both of whom preceded him in passing. He was also preceded in passing by his wife, Betty and four brothers. Bill, as he was known, passed away at the age of 89 on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville.
Bill was formerly employed at Roosevelt Farm for many years. He drove a truck, cut timber, and loved bending your ear – in other words he loved to talk. Spending time with his large family was of great joy.
Bill is survived by his children: Terry Stanfill of Texas, Preston (Sue) LePert of Mendon, Mich., Debra (Mark) Mangoni of Bangor, Linda (John) May of Three Rivers, Mich., Lori (Michael) Johnson of Decatur, Bonnie (Paul) Speece of Kalamazoo, Mich., Bill (Tara) Wagner of Lawrence, Connie (Cory) Gritzmaker of Edwardsburg, Cathy (David) Hornbarger of Decatur, Loyd "Allen" Wagner of Decatur and Brian Wagner of Mattawan, Mich. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray (Connie) Wagner of Oregon; and numerous other family members and friends.
There will be a celebration of William's life at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 with Chaplin Joe Leahy officiating. You're welcome to visit with the family from noon until the time of service.
