William “Billy” Melvin

William "Billy" Melvin was born on Jan. 8, 1957, to Maxine and Richard C. Melvin. He went home to his heavenly family Easter morning, March 27, 2016. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; brother, Douglas; nephew, Steffen; and his precious dog and friend, Sam.

Billy loved everyone, especially his family. He was an adept swimmer, golfer and a very competitive Tae Kwon Do student, having achieved his second degree black belt.

Billy is survived by his parents; brothers, Richard G. (Janet) of Bangor and Timothy (Lynne) of Vicksburg; also his "little" sister; Lisa Buddemeier of Hartford; and sister-in-law, Brenda Melvin of Decatur; as well as nine nieces and nephews; and ten great-nieces and nephews.

As per Billy's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Billy's life at noon Saturday, April 16, followed by a luncheon at the Hartford United Methodist Church. The family will welcome friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Billy's name be made to Diamond Black Anemia (DBA) or the Hartford United Methodist Church.
