Viola Mercedes Rock

Viola Mercedes (Stanley) Rock, 82 of Dowagiac, passed away at 9:25 P.M., Monday, September 15, 2014 at her home surrounded by family.

Viola Rock was born December 16, 1931 to the late James and Donna Stanley. On August 14, 1948, in South Bend, Ind., she married Arthur Fred Rock who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her eight children; Wayne (Joyce) Rock, Sonja (Robert) Gelnett-Bower, Sherrel Rock, William (Deborah) Rock, Virginia (Ian) Ritchie, Donna (Jeff) Smith, Christina Casteneda and Bradley (Stacey) Rock. Also surviving is one sister; Mila West, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed preparing and spending Sunday dinners with her family and her cat, "Miss Kitty". In addition, she loved bird watching and playing cards with her family.
