Vera Mae Skinner was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Breedsville, the daughter of Bryon and Pansy Goodrich. Vera passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at her home in Lawrence Township, at the age of 89.
On May 4, 1965, she was united in marriage to Frank Skinner. Frank passed away on Oct. 19, 2000. Also preceding her in passing was a son, Clifford Rader; a grandson, Jason Rader; and a great-grandson, Alex Reynnells.
Vera is survived by a daughter, Linda (Tom) Reynnells; four sons: Steve Rader, George (Marsha) Rader, John (Kathy) Rader and Francis (Sherry) Skinner. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Zell Goodrich and David Goodrich; two sisters, Gloria Gray and Ida Hanners; along with numerous other family members and friends.
Vera owned and operated Lake Cora Fruit Market, BriarWood Motel and Fran’s Hallmark during her working years. Her most enjoyable times, however, were spent with her family.
As to Vera’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at 1 p.m., in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence Township. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in Vera’s name be made to Centrica Care Navigators (formerly Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan), 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, Mich. 49009.
