Thomas Willard Cross, 66, of Lawrence passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Thomas was born May 20, 1954, in Paw Paw, the son of Willard and Betty Cross. He was an accomplished welder, who could fix just about anything. He was very active in the Lawrence community, serving as a member of the township board for several years. In his spare time, he was an avid racer at heart, whether it was building cars or working on them, loved to fish, enjoyed mushroom hunting for morels with his wife and grandkids, and was an avid storyteller, loving to tell stories to his family and friends.
Thomas is survived by three children, Jason Smith (Jessica Szkody) of Lawton, Jessica (Colin) Ozanich of Kalamazoo and Colleen (Scott) Turner of Dansville; six grandchildren, Samantha, Raegan, Kaitlyn, Kayleigh, Isabella and Taylor; his mother, Betty; and a sister, Connie Cross.
Thomas was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Margaret Cross, on June 16, 2019; and his father, Willard.
The family will hold a service to honor his memory at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8 at Lawrence United Methodist Church with John Lanphear officiating. A private family burial will follow in Hicks Cemetery in Arlington Township. The family has entrusted Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford with arrangements.
