Sondra Lee Councell

Sondra Lee Councell was born June 14, 1939, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Richard and Juanita (Hassen) Beznoska. Sondra passed away at the age of 79 at her home in Keeler Township on Saturday, June 16, 2018.

On Aug. 6, 1960, Sondra was united in marriage to Kenneth Councell. Sondra was formerly employed at Gilmore Brothers in Kalamazoo and at Modern Plastics of Benton Harbor. She attended The Church Keeler, and loved to mow the yard on her riding lawn mower so much that the rest of the family just had to sit back and watch.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the New Day Church in Watervliet, where a celebration of life service to honor Sondra's memory will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Saylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Sondra is survived by her husband, Ken; a son, Kevin Councell of Lawrence; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Councell of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Beznoska of Richland, Mich.

Sondra was preceded in passing by a son, Craig Councell; her parents; and a brother, James Beznoska.
