Shirley Wayne Brewer

Shirley Wayne Brewer, 80, of Marcellus, formerly of Hartford and Dowagiac passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at Ascension Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo.


Shirley was born Sept. 28, 1939, in Lake City, Ark., the son of Samuel and Mary Brewer. Also preceding him in passing were his wife, Barbara, on Apr. 27, 2016, and a son, Lloyd Brewer.


Shirley formerly owned and operated The Tire Spot in Hartford.


Shirley is survived by five children: Sharon Brewer, Teresa (Mark) Banic, Tony (Joanie) Brewer, Lafreda (Ted) Rzeszut and Jeff (Angela) Brewer. He is also survived by grandchildren: Marilyn Mead, Derek Banic, Josh Brewer, Anthony Brewer, Amy Banic, Heather Brewer, Melissa Rzeszut, Zachary Brewer, Kayla Brewer, Jeff Brewer and Andrew Brewer; and great-grandchildren: Landen Mead, Kayden Brewer, Daphne Brewer, Octavia Brewer, Liam Brewer, Lillian Brewer, Oliver Brewer and Reagan Brewer.


The family will welcome friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Keeler Church of God, where funeral services will commence at 2 p.m., with Pastor Boyd Saylor officiating. Following the service, a private burial with immediate family only will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley’s name may be made to his family.
