Sandra Lee Whaley, 79, of Covert passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, at Ely Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Allegan.
Sandra was born Jan. 12, 1941, in Grand Junction, the daughter of William and Florence (Powers) Schallhorn, both of whom precede her in passing. Also preceding her in death were her husband, George Whaley Sr., and a brother, William Schallhorn.
Sandra was employed as an assistant manager at McDonald’s in Coloma, as a seamstress at Hale’s in South Haven, and in the meat department at Harding’s Market in Bangor. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading books.
Sandra is survived by a daughter, Sue Rodriguez of Bangor; a son, James Hunt of Covert; a stepson, George Jr. (Wendy) Whaley of Eau Claire; two stepdaughters: Elva (Vern) Fisher of Eau Claire and Jill Whaley of Bangor; grandchildren: Amber (Sean) Buchert, John Rodriguez Jr., Craig Fisher, Jason (Mary) Fisher, Beverly Whaley, Elva Clayborn, Randy Williamson and Tara Whaley; 12 great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
The family will welcome friends at a graveside service at noon, Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford, with Pastor Duane Jones officiating. Please remember if you plan on attending services that attendance and mask restrictions will be in place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
