Richard Nathaniel Drane, Sr.

Richard Nathaniel Drane Sr., 67 of Hartford passed away on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at home.

Richard was born on Dec. 18, 1955, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of Clarence and Lassie (Harris) Drane, both of whom precede him in passing. He was also preceded in passing by a grandson, Jacob; brother, Coy Drane; and a sister, Mary Ann McNeal.

Richard served in the U.S. Marines. In his spare time, he loved fishing and traveling, but most importantly, he was a family man, whose most special times were spent with the grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Morse; two sons: Gerry Morse and Richard Jr., (Meggin) Drane, both of Hartford; a daughter, Pamela Drane of Three Rivers; three grandchildren: Abby, Belle and Cameron; five brothers: Eddie Drane of Hartselle, Ala., Doyle (Mary) Drane of Hartford, B.C. (Lois) Drane of Hartford, Bud (Sue) Drane of Cassopolis and Allen Drane of Hartselle, Ala.; and two sisters: Wanda (Bill) Morse of Hartford and Vicky (Tom) Chambers of Searcy, Ark.

As per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honor his memory will take place at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Hartford United Methodist Church, with Pastor Doug Tipken officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to cancer research or the church. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
