Raymond Neil Rodgers of Hartford passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac. He was 91 years young.
The family will receive friends from 10-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Hartford General Baptist Church. The North Berrien Military Rites Team will then conduct military rites, followed by a memorial service to honor Raymond's life. Pastor Steven Bisbee will officiate. As to Raymond's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home. Raymond was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Tower, Mich., the son of Neil and Florence (Plumber) Rodgers, both of whom preceded him in passing. He was also preceded by six sisters and two brothers.
Raymond served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. After the service, Raymond worked at the Burnette Foundry in Keeler and retired from Auto Specialties after 30 years of faithful employment. For relaxation, he loved to hunt and fish.
Raymond married the former Elizabeth Neff on Nov. 1, 1942, and for the next 72 years, they enjoyed their lives together. Elizabeth survives, along with their children: Nora Jean (David) Foote of Rudyard, Mich.; and Mary Rodgers and Tom (Tammy) Rodgers, both of Hartford. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Keith (Katherine) Foote of Bronson, Mich., David (Tonya) Foote of Watervliet and Aaron Rodgers of Kleve, Germany; great-grandchildren: Bryan, Rachel, Michael, Garrett and Gavin; and a sister, Genevieve Morris of Flushing, Mich.
