Randall Dee Bogart, 69, of Niles, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at Lakeland Medical Center, Saint Joseph.
Randall was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Salem, Ark., the son of James and Dorothy (Wilcher) Bogart, both of whom precede him in passing. Also preceding him in passing was the love of his life, Phyllis Babb; and his siblings, Evertt, James "Shorty," Gene and Vernon Bogart, Tracy, Donnie and Richard Gillaspy, Melvin Hobbs, Adena Henslee and Mildred Watkins.
Randall is survived by his children, Randall Bogart of Hartford, Karen Bogart of Niles and Laura Arter of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Junior Bogart of Hartford, Steve Gillaspy of Salem, Ark., Robert (Cricket) Gillaspy of Stilwell, Okla., Alice Shoultz of Guemes Island, Wash., Irene Wheeler of Ozark, Mo., and Moudena Stanley of Glendale, Ore., along with many other family members and friends.
Randall served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a proud lifetime member of the Freemasons. He was past master of Pokagon Lodge No. 136, past master of Buchanan Lodge No. 68, member of the Valley of Grand Rapids Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, past high priest of Royal Arch Masons of Kalamazoo Chapter 13 and member of the Order of High Priesthood. He was past Trice Illustrious Master of Royal-s-Select Masons Council No. 63 of Kalamazoo, a member of the Order of the Silver Trovel, past commander of Peninsular Commandery No. 8 of the Knights Templar-Kalamazoo and a recipient of the Grand Commanders Service award and a member of the Knights of the York Cross of Honor (KYCH).
On Wednesday, June 8, the family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, followed by a Masonic Rites Funeral to honor his memory. Randall will be laid to rest in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
