Phyllis Jean West

Phyllis Jean West, 59, of Hartford passed away peacefully with her family by her side Dec. 11, 2015, after a long battle with cancer.

Phyllis was born Jan. 22, 1956, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of James and Lula Belle (Franklin) Weaver, both of whom preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing were two sisters, Gina Diane Moore and Janet Jane Bryant.

Phyllis married Larry West on June 20, 1981, and he survives. Phyllis had one daughter, Pamela (Nicholas) Borkowski of South Haven; a granddaughter, Morgan Sundblad; two stepchildren, Kenneth West and Dawn Hill; and eight adopted grandchildren. She came from a family of six siblings; three sisters and one brother survive, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Phyllis' wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will welcome friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where a service to honor her memory will begin at 2 p.m., with Pastor Mike Heflin of First Church of God in Decatur officiating.
