Patricia Ann Gerencser

Patricia Ann Chappell-Gerencser, 80, of Hartford passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Stevensville.

Pat, as she was known by most everyone, was born in Bangor on April 17, 1940, the daughter of Allen and Marian (Smith) Prouty. She graduated from Hartford High School in the class of 1957. She was formerly employed as a secretary in the Hartford Public School System.

Her most special times were spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat loved to cook and was always cooking for family and friends. She was never happier than surrounded by her friends and family.

Pat leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children: Pam (Camilo) Lucero and Mike (Marissa) Chappell, both of Hartford; her seven grandchildren: Kirsten (Kyle) Hastings, Kyle (Kelsey) Wright, Jessica Lucero, James Lucero, Christopher (Shana) Chappell, Matthew Chappell, and Paul Chappell. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, with another on the way; a sister; Marian Jensen of Hartford; and many other family members; and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Chappell; her second husband, Bill Gerencser; her parents; and a brother, Allen Prouty.

As per Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the restrictions in place, a memorial service to honor Pat’s life will be held at a later date. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hartford Public School Foundation for Quality Education.
