Odena Louise Hansen, 91, dearly loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. He was her Savior and Lord, and on Nov. 9, 2013, she met Him face to face.
Odena was born Nov. 27, 1921, in a church parsonage in Allendale, Mich. Most of her childhood was spent in Houghton, N.Y. After a wartime courtship by mail with an Army airman in Hawaii, she married the love of her life, Carl J. Hansen, and moved to Manistee, Mich. After his death in 1983, she lived in Ovid, Hartford and Portage. Her life was spent providing love and support to her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong student of one book, the Bible, and her passion was 63 years of volunteer ministry at the Manistee Salvation Army, the United Church of Ovid and Hartford United Methodist Church. Her hobbies were crocheting and watching the "Price Is Right," "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" And she loved Charlie the cat.
Odena was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Lewis and Alice Clark; 10 brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Larry Marsh. She is survived by her son, the Rev. Ron (Jan) Hansen of Portage, Mich.; daughter, Cheryl Marsh of Battle Creek; grandchildren: Paula (Scott) Dennison of Ithaca, Mich.; Eric (Renelle) Hansen of Kalamazoo; Terri Marsh, Christi Marsh and Lisa (Charles) Thomas, all of Battle Creek; Aaron (Sarah) Hunt of Grand Haven; Rebecca Hunt of Michigan City, Ind.; and David (Larissa) Hunt of Mattawan; and 11 great-grandchildren.
