Margaret Helen Martens

Margaret Helen Martens, 83 of Hartford, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at her home.

Margaret was born September 24, 1929 in Hartford, the daughter of Franklin and Frances (Hicks) Colman, both of whom preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing was her husband – Charles on November 29, 1986, three brothers - Robert “Bob” Colman, James “Jim” Colman and Franklin “Bud” Colman as well as two sisters - Mable Nelson and Joan Treat.

Margaret graduated from Hartford High School in 1947 and she returned to the Hartford Public Schools in her adult work life, where she was employed as a cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who had a deep satisfaction for helping others in need.

Margaret is survived by two sons - Charles (Kay) Martens of Lansing and Douglas Martens of Hartford, four grandchildren - Amanda Tenison, Nic Martens, Muzimal Khan and Lauren Sherman, one great grandchild and two more on the way, a brother - Clyde (Gail) Colman of Berrien Springs and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
