Marcelyn Gail Shuler was born Nov. 14, 1959, in Plymouth. She passed away at the age of 56, on Feb. 7, 2016, at Lakeland Medical Center, Saint Joseph. She was the daughter of Leroy and Lynette (Pardee) Bennett, both of whom preceded her in passing. Marcelyn was also preceded by her father-in-law, William Shuler.
Marcelyn graduated from Canton High School and attended Eastern Michigan University, where she received her bachelor of science in nursing, and was employed at Lakeland Medical Center for 22 years. She loved collecting romance novels and spending time with her family. Marcelyn will be missed by her many online friends, where she was known for her wit, wisdom, encouragement of others to challenge themselves to overcome life's obstacles and achieve their goals. She will also be missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and others.
Marcelyn married William Shuler, and he survives; along with two sons, Nathan and Devin Shuler. She is also survived by two sisters, Elaine (Steve) Sharp of Aurora, Ill., and Christine (Curt) Burnett of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Brian (Judy) Bennett of Plymouth; and a mother-in-law, Mary Lou Shuler of Alpena.
As to Marcelyn's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service to honor her memory will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial may do so to the family.
