Lucius Andrew King was born on Feb. 4, 1941 in Lawrence, the son of Andrew and Beulah (Weston) King.
Lucius passed away suddenly at the age of 81, on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at his home in Watervliet.
Lucius was formerly employed at the Watervliet Paper Mill for many years, until it permanently closed. When he wasn’t working his “full-time” job, you could find him on his tractor, tending to his hobby farms, which included soybeans, corn, and hay or cutting firewood. He was a Detroit Tiger fanatic and rooted them on even during their losing seasons. He enjoyed participating in community parades, as a member of the parade crew for Vassar Farms Antique Tractors. Most of all he loved his family and adored his granddaughters. He had a special place in his heart for his granddogs.
On May 12, 1962, Lucius was united in marriage with Carol McNees, and they were married for 58 years, until Carol’s passing in 2020. They had two children. On July 17, 2021 Lucius was united in marriage with Rita (Vanwynen) Farrell and she survives, along with Lucius’ children: Clinton (Jan) King of Watervliet, and Cindy (Chris) Rush of Lake Orion, Mich.; two grandchildren: Megan and Emily Rush; a sister, Sandy (Norman) Bailey of Pflugerville, Texas; special cousin, Hazel (Weston) Vassar; stepsons: Curt and Jason Farrell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Lucius was preceded in passing by his first wife, Carol, who passed away on Aug. 3, 2020; his parents; and a sister, Joanne (King) Jones.
In accordance with Lucius’ wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial celebration of life to honor Lucius’ memory at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, on Vassar Farms, 45079 68th St., Hartford. Rob Vassar will be officiating.
