Leonard Richardson Jr., of Paw Paw was born on Oct. 11, 1931, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of Leonard and Zelma Richardson.
Bud, as he was known by everyone, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Mich., at the age of 90.
Bud graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was formerly employed at the Watervliet Paper Mill for many years, was a former member of the Watervliet Fire Department, and a member of the Watervliet VFW Post 6803.
On Nov. 26, 2004, Bud was united in marriage with Icie Brewer. She survives along with Bud’s four children: Carol Saurbier, Dianna Richardson, Vickie Head and Brian (Cynthia Garrone) Richardson, all of Watervliet; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Zelma (Babe) Otte; a stepdaughter, Tamara Hall; three step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Bud was preceded in passing by his parents: a sister; Donna LaVanway; a brother, Robert L. Richardson; and a step-son, Keith McNees.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. As to his wishes, cremation will follow. He will be laid to rest at a later date in North Shore Memory Gardens, in Coloma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bud’s name may be made to the Watervliet VFW Post 6803.
