Kimberly Gaye Rye

November 9, 1962 — July 13, 2022

Kimberly Gaye Rye was born Nov. 9, 1962, in Benton Harbor, the daughter of George and Grace (Theed) Dill. She passed away suddenly on July 13, 2022, at her home in Watervliet at the age of 59.

On May 16, 1998, Kim, as she was known, was united in marriage with Jerry Rye. He survives along with her five children: Brandon Varpa of Benton Harbor, Andrew Rye, Alex Rye, and Roslyn Rye all of Watervliet and Heidi Speck of Benton Harbor; her mother, Grace Dill of Hartford; three grandkids: Payton Rye, Kyra Rogers and Chelsea Speck; along with three sisters, and five brothers.

Kim was preceded in passing by her father, George Dill.

Kim had the biggest heart and would give you the shirt off of her back if someone needed it. She loved the times spent with her family, especially the cookouts. If you drove passed her house during the holidays you would see the yard decorated with candy canes and Santa Clauses, or ghosts and goblins or cupids and hearts. It just depended on what holiday it was. But most important to her was the love she had for her kids.

There will be a time of fellowship to celebrate Kim’s life for family and friends starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, at the Hartford Bible Church banquet room. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family. The Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford has been entrusted with arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
