Ken "Pete" Jordan, 77, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph. A life-long resident of Hartford, he married the former Judy Kopus at the Federated Church on April 25, 1964, in Hartford. For the next 49 years they shared their love for each other as they worked together to enjoy a very good life.
Ken was a 1955 graduate of Hartford High School, and served eight years in the Michigan National Guard. For 34 years, he worked for the Sanitary Refuse Company. In 2001, Ken retired from Best Way Disposal. His retirement lasted only two weeks before he decided to return to Best Way where he worked part-time for another 10 years before fully retiring in 2011.
One of Ken's favorite pastimes was attending tractor shows and seeing his favorite John Deere equipment on display. And, though he loved all things John Deere, he also reserved a place in his heart for Allis Chalmers and Farmall tractors.
Along with his wife, Judy, Ken is survived by two sisters: Shirley (Larry) Anchor of Hartford and Betty Jordan of Dowagiac; three brothers: Roger Jordan of Bridgman, Tom (Lois) Jordan of Coloma and Bill (Darlene) Jordan of Hartford; brother-in-law Larry Rinehart of Mattawan and sister-in-law Barbara (Dave) Jorgensen of Ohio.
He is also survived by eighteen nieces and nephews, many of whom fondly remember the family reunions when their Uncle Ken hitched a wagon to a tractor and let them all pile in for a ride around the farm. Thirty-five great nieces and nephews also survive.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Lilah Jordan, sister Pat Rinehart, sisters-in-law Laurel Jordan and Carol Kopus, father-in-law Tony Kopus and mother-in-law Betty Kopus.
