Kathyn Sue Maya

November 19, 1956 — February 16, 2013

Kathyn Sue Maya, 56 of Kalamazoo, went to be with the lord, Saturday, February 16, 2013, in Hartford Township, as the result of an automobile accident.

Kathyn was born November 19, 1956 in Jellico, Tennessee, the daughter of Joe and Mary (Bennett) Hamblin, both of whom precede her in passing.

Kathy was the wife of Efrain Maya, Pastor of the Keeler General Baptist Church. Kathy was the loving mother and grandmother to Jaime Maya of Kalamazoo, Efrain "Bobby" (Brieanne) Maya of Cleveland, Tennessee and his daughter, Mahrijana; and Jesse Maya of Kalamazoo and his son Mateo. Kathy enjoyed the time spent with her three sisters; Brenda House, Linda (Omer) Rutherford and Barabra-Joann (Larry) Kemp; and two brothers; Wayne (Julie) Hamblin and Johnny Hamblin.

Kathy enjoyed spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She was known as “mom” over the years by many of her son’s friends, and was always willing to provide food, shelter, and prayer to anyone who was in need. Her life was her witness that she was truly a representative of Jesus Christ in this world. She was a devoted Christian who served Christ faithfully for 35 years. She was a member of the Keeler General Baptist Church and enjoyed attending all of the church functions, especially those with the ladies. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

As to Kathy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Eternal will take place at 4 P.M. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Keeler General Baptist Church, with Pastor Efrain Maya officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Kathy's name be made to Efrain Maya. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford with the arrangements. Those wishing to leave condolences may do so by visiting our web site at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
