Judson C. Moses

Judson C. Moses, 82, of Lawrence passed away April 22, 2014, at Maple Lake Assisted Living in Paw Paw.

Judson was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Lawrence, one of five children born to Arthur and Mildred (Sutherby) Moses. Jud, as he was known, graduated from Lawrence High School. He owned and operated Moses Construction Co. for 57 years, where he was a builder and excavating contractor. Jud was a longtime member of Lawrence Rising Sun Lodge 119 F&AM, and was also an avid hunter, fisherman and Detroit Tigers fan.

Jud is survived by his children: Greg (Kathy) of Corona, Calif.; Jeff (Sheryl) of Lawrence; Lori of Illinois; Tom of Portage; Tim of North Aurora, Ill.; and Mark (Michelle) of Aurora, Ill.; stepdaughter Melinda (Jack) Marcelletti of San Diego; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Naomi Beeching of Mattawan and Virginia Warsko of Watervliet; former spouses, Janice Moses and Mary Bower; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Max and George.

A celebration of Jud's life will be on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. Chaplain Kevin Brintnall of Grace Hospice will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service. Burial service will be in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence. Masonic rites by Rising Sun Lodge 119 F&AM will be conducted during the grave site committal service. A luncheon will follow, with the location to be announced.
