Joy Marilyn Edwards, 65, of Lawrence passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, surrounded by family in the comfort of her home.
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, and be immediately followed by a luncheon at His Place in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or a charity of your choice.
Joy was born on Dec. 31, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Edwin and Cecile (Williams) Fitz. Joy graduated from Watervliet High School. She married Jerry when she was 18 and spent her life raising and caring for her family. She loved taking photographs of wild horses, was an avid bird watcher and gardener. She enjoyed fishing and canning vegetables, and spending time with her grandkids. Joy was her husband Jerry’s caregiver until his passing just last year.
Joy leaves behind two daughters, Sheila (Chad) Farrington of Portage and Amy (Pete Ledesma) Edwards of Hartford; a son, Bryan (Frankie Alm) of Lawrence; three grandchildren: Ty and KyLeigh Farrington and Ameliana Ledesma; two sisters, Cheryl (Jack) Albert of Ontario, Canada and Sandy (Dave) Baird of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Jim (Debra) Fitz of Decatur; her mother, Cecile; a special niece, Laura (Shanon) Sinclair of Hartford; and numerous nieces; nephews; other family members; and friends.
Joy was preceded in passing by her husband, Jerry; and her father, Edwin.
