John (Jack) Arwood Sinclair. born April 1, 1923, died Oct. 14, 2015.
In passing, Jack Sinclair joins his wife of 55 years, Maxine (Finkbeiner) Sinclair. They met as students at MSU.
He was a teacher, a coach and the president of the village of Woodland, Mich., before managing the nurseries at Hilltop Orchards in Hartford. Jack was a 50-year member of the Lions Club, a Shriner and a Mason. Jack was very active in Hartford United Methodist Church. Jack was a past president of the Hartford Lions and held statewide offices. He received the SA Dodge Award, the highest honor given by the Lions of Michigan. Jack never missed the important events of his children's and grandchildren's lives.
He is mourned by his daughter, Nancy (Sinclair) Rehling of Lutz, Fla., and her husband, Robert; his son John, married to Cindy McCarthy, and their children Aislinn and Brendan McCarthy-Sinclair of Santa Rosa, Calif.; his son Thomas, married to Julie Powell, and their children Oscar (Stacie) and Gaylen Sinclair; and his son Steven, married to Cathy, and their family: Teresa Payne, Dewey and Skylar Sinclair, Duane and Cassie Von Eitzen; and great-grand-children.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. Jack's funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at Hartford United Methodist Church, with a meal afterward. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hartford United Methodist Church or the Hartford Lions Club Sight Fund, P.O. Box 633, Hartford, MI 49057.
