John Anton Brower

John Anton Brower was born June 10, 1939, in Brazzaville, Belgian Congo, one of five children born to Angus and Emma (Anderson) Brower, both of whom preceded him in passing. Also preceding him in passing was a brother, Paul Brower. John passed away at home on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017.

The family will welcome friends from 3-4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford. At 4 p.m. a memorial celebration of John's life will take place with the Rev. On Aug. 3, 1963, John was united in marriage to Sheron Seron and she survives; along with two sons, Paul (Miyuki) Brower of Powell, Ohio, and Kirk (Gini) Brower of Arvada, Colo. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Shin Brower, Ken Brower, Patrick Brower, Mary Kate Brower and Andrew Brower; a brother, David (Clara) Brower of Zeeland, Mich.; and two sisters, Mary (Larry) Elgersma of Plainwell and Ruth Rutherford of Niles.

John retired from Georgia-Pacific Paper Company after many years of faithful employment. In his spare time, John loved reading, bird watching, scuba diving, backpacking, jogging and especially playing bridge at the senior center in St. Joseph.
