Joe Chambers, 93, of Hartford passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, July 3, 2021.
Joe was born Oct. 19, 1927, in Etowah, Ark., to Frank and Maudie Belle (Donahue) Chambers. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. On Sept. 19, 1947 he was united in marriage to Ethel Russell.
During his younger years the family traveled back and forth to Arkansas until 1966 when the family settled in Hartford. He retired from the former Bendix Corp., of Benton Harbor. After his retirement he continued to farm in both Michigan and Arkansas for several years. His most cherished times were spent with his family which consists of his wife of 74 years, Ethel; his four children: JoeAnn (Jerry) Gregory, Jimmy Chambers, Tommy (Vicky) Chambers, and Brenda (Rick) Pritchard; eleven grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
The family will welcome friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 7, at the Hartford Church of God, where at noon the service to honor Joe’s memory will take place. Pastor Steve Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Keeler Cemetery, Keeler Township with full military rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Memorial donations in Joe’s name may be made to the family.
