Joan Louise Whiteman

Joan Louise Whiteman, 81, of Lawrence, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo.

Joan was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Sister Lakes, Mich, the daughter of Donald and Estelle (Carlson) Pauley. Joan was a simple woman who loved to shop, spend time with her family and friends, and do yard work, especially mowing her yard.

Joan is survived by three daughters, Susan (Jerry) Miller of Schoolcraft, Mich., Sally (Vic) Bunce of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Trish (Sergio) Dimas of Portage, and a son, Larry (Angel) Whiteman of Atlanta, Ga. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Molly, Connor and Emily Miller, Aiden and Alysa Dimas, Hannah and Trevor Whiteman and Jennifer Reina; three great-grandchildren, Robbie, Jillian and Jenna Reina; and a brother, Tom Pauley of Gulf Port, Miss.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; and her husband, Leo.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A time of fellowship will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford. Private burial will take place in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, at a later date.
