Joan Elaine Meachum

Joan Elaine Meachum, 68 of Hartford, was called home Thursday, January 10, 2013 at her home.

Joan was born January 16, 1944 in Watervliet, the daughter of James and Beatrice (Peck) Smith, both of whom precede her in passing. She was also preceded in passing by her husband, Maurice on October 14, 2007 and a sister, Laura Edison.

Joan loved the family get to gathers and just spending time with her family which consists of her daughter, Tonya L. Raday and her children: Kathy and Kathy’s children: Kiandra, Teya Kila, Michelle and Michelle’s child: Otto, Sean and Amber and Amber’s children: Noah and Isaiah, a son, Michael E. (Vickie M.) Meachum and their children: Jared and Gabriel; a son, James R. (Ava) Meachum and their children: Ashley and her child: Kylee, David, Matt, Alyssa and Casey and Casey’s children: Bella, James and Chase. Joan is also survived by two sisters, Lorraine (Cliff) Berg of Utah and Laverne (Wally) Shelton of North Carolina.

Joan served many years at the Van Buren Sportsman’s Club in Hartford. She was formerly employed at the Cast Matic Corporation of Stevensville and had a passion for gardening, as shown by the many hours she spent making the outdoors at her home so beautiful.

As to Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Eternal will take place at 2 P.M. on January 20, 2013 at the Van Buren Sportsman’s Club, followed by a luncheon and a time of fellowship and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Joan’s name be made to the Van Buren Sportsman’s Club.
