Jesse Dean De May, 88, of Coloma went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 17, 2014, after his short time with Alzheimer's. He was born Jan. 5, 1926, to Jessie (Wallace) and John De May. Jesse had a lot of friends and family who loved him and will miss him dearly. He had a lot of "mini" doxies: Honzee, Snickers, Poo Doo, Cuddles, Trooper, Big Chopper and Little Chopper. His friends were Roger (Alta) Bowen; Mark (Sharon) Little; Pastor Davey and his wife, Dorothy; Andy (Joyce) Thomas and many, many more, too many to remember.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jessica (Long) De May; his daughters, Sherrian Daugherty and Vicki (De May-Wier) Wood; four grandchildren: DiAnn (Ted) Brunell, David Daugherty, Fawn Lewis and Dustin Wier; and seven great-grandchildren: Justin Brunell, Corey Brunell, Holly Brunell, Trea Lewis, Sebastian Lewis, Noah Wier and Greylyn Wier.
His parents, Jessie and John; a brother, Elmer De May; and two sisters, Lovey (De May) Crawford and Freda (De May-Welty) Whitcomb, all went home to be with Jesus before Jesse.
He put 36 years of his life into Whirlpool Corp. and made more friends there to add to the many others. He also had a lot of hobbies. He liked wood working and built his home, drum and bugle corps, fishing, hunting, music, singing and going to the Gaither vocal band concerts. He loved being in the Navy on the LST 901. He was a member of Crystal Springs Church of God, where he gathered more friends. He was also a wonderful singer and sang in church as a solo/duet many times. A special thank-you to Hospice, Area Agency on Aging and Riveridge Manor in Niles.
A memorial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Crystal Springs Church of God. The family has entrusted Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
