James Robert Purcell

James Robert Purcell, 55, of Bangor passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo.

James was born June 26, 1957, in St. Joseph, the son of Cecil and Azlee (Westmorlan) Purcell, both of whom preceded him in passing. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Burley Purcell and Dallas Purcell.

James was formerly employed with Mittler Supply of Benton Harbor. He loved his family and playing music, playing in the "Purcell's Armadilla Band".

James is survived by five children, Cheryl Morseau of Bangor, George Morseau of Hartford, Rhonda Purcell of Dowagiac, James "Jay" Purcell of Bangor and Jennifer Purcell of Texas; six grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Esther (Merle) Gilmore of Batesville, Ark.; and four brothers, Norman Purcell of Benton Harbor, Gary Purcell of Coloma, Daniel Purcell of Bangor and Terry Purcell of Watervliet.

The family will welcome friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford, where the service to honor his memory will commence at 1 p.m. The Rev. Ernest Glasgow will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family requests memorial donations in James' name be made to the family.
