Helen Virginia “Ginny” Wheeler (Cantrell), 77, of Hartford passed away suddenly on Friday, April 5, 2024.
Ginny was born on Aug. 15, 1946, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the daughter to Fred and Margie Cantrell. She married Ronald “Ron” Wheeler on Dec. 12, 1964. She retired from the Hartford School District after over 30 years of service.
Ron and Ginny were high school sweethearts who cherished their life together for over 53 years. They had two children she would do anything for, and she loved them unconditionally; her daughter, Tam (deceased), with her son, Adam, was a kind, loving person with a giving heart and was an amazing mom; and her son, Bryan and Crystal, with their sons, Tyler and Jacob. She was so proud of Bryan’s military service and of the life they worked so hard for to provide for their family. Ginny was a caring Memaw who loved and welcomed Hannah when she came into her life through the relationship with her grandson, Adam.
Ginny was also an amazing Memaw to Joshua, Braden, Layla, and Hunter and absolutely loved spending time coloring and painting rocks with them in Arizona. She enjoyed having lunch with her many close friends. She and Ron cherished their many trips taken with their most beloved cousin and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy, who never stopped laughing. For over 30 years, Ginny touched the lives of many children attending Woodside Elementary School.
A celebration of life service to honor Ginny’s memory will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Hartford United Methodist Church, with a light dinner to follow, also at the Church.
Virginia is survived by her son, Bryan (Crystal) Wheeler of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandsons: Tyler Wheeler of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Jacob Wheeler of Phoenix, Ariz., and Adam (Hannah) Wheeler of Bloomingdale; four great-grandchildren: Joshua, Braden, Layla and Hunter, all of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; brother, Bob (Linda) Cantrell; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Ron; daughter, Tam; and sister, Kaye.
