Hazel Louise Mix

Hazel Mix, 78, of Hartford passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph, surrounded by family.

Hazel was born on March 11, 1946, to Wesley and Elsie Rye in Caraway, Ark. Hazel is preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Cheske; a brother, Harold Rye; her parents: Wesley and Elsie Rye and her husband, Lawrence Mix Sr.

Hazel is survived by her children: Dawn Mix of Hartford, Thomas Mix (Crystal Cagle) of Hartford, Lawrence Mix Jr., of Coldwater, an adopted daughter, Lisa Ledesma of Lawrence; her grandchildren: Maranda Green of Hartford, Jesse Joiner of Hartford, Jamie (Mark) Wreford of Coloma, Jeremy Cagle of Niles, Ashley (Jake) Harris of Jerseyville, Ill., Kelsey Ulrath of Coloma, Dakotah (Elizabeth) Ulrath of Dowagiac, Ethan Steltner of Hartford, Abby Soldaat of Benton Harbor, Isabella Rodriguez of Lawrence, Tommy Mix of Chicago, and Lashonda Rasgaitis of Florida; and nineteen great-grand kids, whom she loved dearly.

Hazel loved to read, visit with friends, playing cards with her family, cooking her ‘million-dollar’ spaghetti for her grandkids, and helping out anyone that needed it. She loved fishing, watching her soaps, going to the casino and uptown to watch the concerts. She loved all her animals, especially Titus and Monkey, but her all time favorite things were owls and yellow roses.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford. A private burial will take place at a later date. Those who wish to leave condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
