Guy Ellsworth Nearpass

Guy Ellsworth Nearpass, 75, of Eau Claire was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Stockbridge, Mich. He was the son of Ellsworth and Gladys (Musbach) Nearpass. Guy went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.

A time of fellowship will be held from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at The Church Keeler, 63627 Territorial Road, Hartford, MI 49057, followed by a memorial celebration of Guy's life. The Revs. Jesse Maya and Scott Nearpass will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Guy's name be made to the church. Guy married the former Barbara Ramsey on Sept. 7, 1968. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He was formerly employed as an ironworker for the South Bend Union Local 292. After retirement, Guy worked as a truck driver for Century Sun. He also devoted time to his singing ministry, spreading the word of God with his wonderful and distinct voice. Guy supported, both financially and hands on, many charities including the Forgotten Man Ministry and Habitat for Humanity. He loved racing, motorcycles and most of all his children and grandchildren. While waiting to join his wife in heaven, he found great pleasure in collecting and shooting various hand guns. While battling a debilitating disease for more than 15 years, Guy touched many people with his love and kindness. He never complained and always had an infectious smile until the end. His impact on this world could not be measured.

Guy is survived by his five children: Charles (Michelle) Nearpass, Julia (Keith) Klann, Scott (Erika) Nearpass, Guy (Melissa) Nearpass Jr. and Anthony (Karen) Nadell. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren: AJ, Rachel, Lindsey, Layla, Courtney, Dean, Abby, Benjamin, Tony, Kevin, Nathaniel, James, Jacob, Cody, Madison, Savanah, Angel, Daniel, Samuel, Gavin, Ethan and Nolan; a brother, Gary (Sandy) Nearpass; a sister, Kay (Chris) Chatters; and two sisters-in-law, Linda (Rick) Ramsey and Marcell Ramsey.

Guy is survived by his five children: Charles (Michelle) Nearpass, Guy was preceded in passing by his wife, Barbara on April 15, 2013; two grandsons, Eryn Nearpass and Joseph Nadell; his parents; a brother-in-law, Ted Ramsey; and nephew, Cory Chatters.
