Granvel Odis Duda, 70 of Decatur passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at his home.


Jerry, as he was known, was born July 11, 1942, in Blysville, Ark., the son of Otto and Carrie (Trayweek) Duda, both of whom preceded him in passing. Also preceding him in passing were a grandson, Lee "Bubba" Phillips; a sister, Barbara Dunnigan; and two brothers, Donnie Trayweek and Lonnie Trayweek.


Jerry is survived by his fiancé, Peggy Hoffman of Decatur; three daughters - Carrie (Dr. Edward) Haughn of Allegan, Jerri (Randy) Boger of Gobles and Catherine (Michael) Wootton of Richmond, Va.; one son, Carl (Dawn) Hoffman of Van Wert, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Warren Duda of Caruthersville, Mo.


Jerry was an outdoorsman by nature. He enjoyed all the family gatherings, especially those where he could show off his barbecuing skills. He also was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved tending to his garden.


The family will welcome friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Keeler Church of God, where the service to honor his memory will commence at 11 a.m. with Pastor Boyd Saylor and Michael Wootton serving as officiants. Jerry will be laid to rest in a private interment at Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Watervliet Township, after the service.
