Geronimo Lugo Mireles Jr., 71, of Hartford, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at home, with his family by his side.
Geronimo was born September 8, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas the son of Geronimo and Sara (Lugo) Mireles, both of whom precede him in passing. He was also preceded in passing by a daughter; Yolanda Mireles, a grandson; Geronimo Contreras and two brothers; Pedro and Felix Mireles.
On April 24, 1960 he married Oralia Cuellar who survives along with two sons; Daniel (Judy) Mireles of Hartford and David (Kim) Mireles of Paw Paw, three daughters; Rachel (Edward) Contreras, Elida (Jose) Segura and Christina Mireles all of Hartford. He is also survived by twenty three grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and his nine siblings; Gloria, Margaret, Jose, Ruben, Felipe, Julio, Fidel, Manuel and Estaban.
Geronimo was formerly employed by the Village of Paw Paw and the Point of Woods Golf Course in Benton Harbor. He and his wife operated a concession stand in the 1960’s at the old fair grounds when it was located by the Hartford Speedway. He also loved to cook for the family gatherings.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hartford, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 A.M. on Friday, January 11, 2013 with Father Fabio Garzon as the Celebrant. Geronimo will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford is assisting the family. Any memorial donations should be made out to the family.
