Gatha Glennette Bennett, 75, of Hartford passed away suddenly Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at home.
Gatha was born Oct. 11, 1946, in Barstow, Calif., the daughter of Robert and Donnie (Brannen) Johnson, both of whom precede her in passing. Also preceding her in passing are a son, Shannon Scott Bennett; a grandson, Gunnar Bennett; a sister, Shirley Rogers; and two brothers, James Johnson and Marshall Johnson.
Gatha was a woman that was dedicated to her Lord and Savior, who you could find sitting in the same spot in front of the altar during services at the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Hartford. She was also very loyal to her family, and especially her husband, both of whom she loved more than life itself. She loved her nieces and nephews like her own, loved kids as much as they loved her, and enjoyed spending her free time with her sisters.
Gatha married Thomas Bennett on May 9, 1964. He survives, along with a son, Thomas (Mariana) Bennett; a grandson, Evan Bennett; two sisters, Joan Robinson and Joyce Stineman; and a brother, Harold “Brigg” Johnson.
Gatha has been cremated, and a memorial service to honor her memory will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Full Gospel Assembly Church, Hartford, with Pastor Shannon Truelove officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the church. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
