Frederick Leo Leach was born on Oct. 4, 1943, in Hopkins, Mich., the son of Thomas and Christine (Provacki) Leach, both of whom precede him in passing.
Fred, as he was known, passed away suddenly at his home in Hartford on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, at the age of 78.
Fred was formerly employed in construction with Spartan Asphalt and Wyoming Asphalt. He was a member of the Coloma American Legion Post 362, where he performed with the North Berrien Military Rites Team for a number of years. In his spare time, he loved going to auctions and interacting with people, as he was known to love to talk to everybody.
Fred and Gloria Rider, his companion for forty years, loved spending time with each other and their many friends. Gloria survives along with three brothers: Sam Leach, George Leach and Bill Leach, along with many other family members and friends.
The family will welcome friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where at 7 p.m. full military rites will be conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team, followed by a celebration of life service. Pastor Lonnie Truelove will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery at later date.
