Frances Anne Beck was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Kennett, Mo. She was the daughter of James and Lois (Dees) Hensley. Frances passed away at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016. Her parents preceded her in passing.
The family will welcome friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at the Word of Life Church in Lawrence, followed at 2 p.m. by a celebration of life service to honor Frances' memory. The Rev. Larry Potts will officiate. As to Frances' wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church. Frances was united in marriage to Jerry Beck on July 29, 1966, and for the next 50 years, they enjoyed each others company. Jerry survives along with three daughters: Amy (Bruce) Smith, and Sharon Beck both of Lawrence, and Sally (Randy) Hoekstra of Lawton; seven grandchildren: Morgan, Macey and Mason Smith, Jesse (Randall Berkeley) Beck, Megan (Jeremy) Gulledge, Chantel (Paul) Reyna and Andrew Hoekstra; five great-grandchildren: Emma Beck, Alyssa Wells, Brayden Reyna, Mackenzie and Brooklynn Hoekstra. Frances is also survived by two sisters, Jimmie (Pete) Vassar and Linda Hensley; and a brother, Stacy Hensley; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Growing up, Frances went to school in Bangor. She was formerly employed at Adams Electric in Bangor, EPC in Mattawan and the Marathon Station in Lawrence, where she made many friends. She faithfully attended the Word of Life Church in Lawrence, loved going to the casinos, cooking and spending time with the family, especially when playing poker. She will be truly missed by all.
