Evelyn Marie Miller, 81, of Hartford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Evelyn was born on Nov. 21, 1937 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Joseph and Alvina (Alexis) Morsaw, both of whom preceded her in passing. She is also preceded in passing by her husband, Glynn Miller, Sr. on Oct. 19, 1993, and three siblings: Cardinal Joseph Morsaw, Betty Castanon and Josephine Griffith.
Evelyn graduated from Hartford High School in 1955. She was formerly employed as a paraprofessional with Hartford Public Schools. She was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hartford, where she served on the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, where she was active in the elders. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending senior services lunches, going to the casino and watching WWE wrestling with her grandson, where she knew them all by name. Her most important times were spent with family, staying constantly active in their lives, especially her grandchildren.
Evelyn leaves behind three children: Sheri (Robert) Dick of Lawrence, Glynn, Jr. (Barbara) Miller of Berrien Springs, John (Angela) Miller of Hartford; grandchildren: Robert Dick, Jr., Daniel Dick, Hanna and Nicholas Miller, Sean Miller, Kathryn Miller, Isabella Miller and Steven Miller; a brother, Arthur (Cathy) Morsaw of Hartford and many other family members.
The family will welcome friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 13 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hartford, where the Mass of Christian Burial to honor her memory will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14. Father German Perez-Diaz and Deacon Arthur Morsaw will serve as celebrants. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. The family requests memorial donations in Evelyn's name be made to either the church or to a Catholic Church of your choice.
