Ernest Lee Goodson, 71, of Hartford passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Mich.


Ernest was born on May 21, 1951, in Lawrence. He was the owner of Wiltse Fencing in Watervliet for many years. On many weekends, you could find him drag racing at the U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich. In his spare time, he liked to hunt and fish, and was a man who loved his family dearly, especially the times he spent with the grandkids.


Ernest is survived by two sons: Ernest (Erin) Goodson and David Goodson, both of Hartford; grandchildren: Chase (Courtney), Nick, Trey, Lainey, Lindsey and Lily; a great-granddaughter, Genevieve; and a brother, Darrell Goodson of Watervliet.


Ernest was preceded in passing by his wife of nearly fifty years, Carmen, on Feb. 25, 2020; his parents; and seven siblings: Marlen, Gaylon, Trinton, Jarell, Clare, Melba and Gene.


The family will welcome friends from 5-8 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Full Gospel Assembly Church, Hartford, where the service to honor his memory will commence at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 30, with Pastor Shannon Truelove officiating. Burial will follow in Keeler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the donor’s choice.
