Elvin Guy Nyhuis

Elvin Guy Nyhuis was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Hudsonville, Mich. and entered his eternal home in heaven on March 16, 2024, at the age of 94.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 69 years, Ann Nyhuis; his son, Timothy Nyhuis; his parents; three brothers; his son-in-law, Joey Walker; and his daughter-in-law, Jean Nyhuis and is survived by his sister, Joyce Brower. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his children: Guy Nyhuis and wife, Nancy, Paul Nyhuis and wife, Sylvia, Margaret Baeza and husband, Mark, Thomas Nyhuis and fiancée, Lori Arruda, Beth Rumbaugh and husband, Jeff; daughter-in-law, Cindy Nyhuis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family members; and dear friends.

Elvin received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1941 and received his call to the ministry in 1952. He was ordained to preach in 1960 and this began a lifetime of service to the Lord, pastoring several churches in Michigan and Indiana during his ministry. Elvin loved the Lord with his whole heart and wanted to share Jesus with all whom he met. His devotion to studying the scriptures and praying for others daily was an example of his sincere faith. Throughout his ministry he saw many come to know the Lord and this was something that truly made him happy. It fulfilled his life verse of John 15:16 “…I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit.”.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Georgetown Cemetery, Hudsonville, Mich. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Hartford Bible Church, Hartford, Mich. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
