Earl DeWayne Cook, 58 of Paw Paw passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
A memorial celebration of life service to honor Earl's memory will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Hartford General Baptist Church, 323 E. Main St., Hartford. The family will receive friends from noon until 12:30 p.m. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the family in care of Virgil Mike Cook to help with expenses. Memorial condolences for the family can be left at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com. There will be a time of fellowship and visitation with family and friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
Earl was born July 6, 1956, in Benton Harbor to Gilbert and Elsie (Pointer) Cook, both of whom preceded him in passing. A sister, Hope Cook, also preceded him in passing.
Earl, or "Elvis" as he was known to many in Paw Paw and Dowagiac, would often entertain people at different events and by the Save-A-Lot store in Paw Paw. He also made the rounds to all the many rummage sales in Paw Paw over the years.
Earl married the former Paula Head. She survives, along with a daughter, Christina Walsh; a son, Jordan Walsh; sister, Dorlene (Tom) Neeley of Covert; and three brothers: Kenneth (Marie) Cook, Dennis Cook and Virgil Mike (Alice) Cook, all of Dowagiac.
Per the family, "Elvis has left Paw Paw." He was fairly well known in Paw Paw and had even been on post cards for the city of Paw Paw that said, "Elvis was seen in Paw Paw, Michigan." Rest in peace, "Elvis" Earl Cook.
