Donna Jean Johnson

Donna Jean Johnson, 85, passed away Oct. 7, 2024, at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville. Donna was born June 1, 1939, in Lawrence, Mich., to Margaret (Haney) and Richard Drake. She grew up around the Breedsville, Grand Junction area, but most of her childhood was spent in Hartford.

Donna married her childhood friend and sweetheart, Theodore Clark Johnson, on Nov. 3, 1956, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage. They moved back to Hartford in 1971, when they bought Donna's Uncle Murl Haney's house.

Donna was a lovely homemaker and kept a beautiful house and home. She loved to sew and was a very precise seamstress. Donna and Ted kept an immaculate yard with several flower gardens over the years. Donna enjoyed collecting and refinishing furniture. She and Ted took many excursions to find antiques, which she also collected.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents; her brother, Jimmy Drake and her grandchild, Christina Ann Johnson.

Donna is survived by her son, Terry Clark Johnson, of Sister Lakes and daughter, Sally Lyn (Eric) Germinder of Hartford; grandchildren: Lena Nicole (Johnson) Jenkins, James E. C. Johnson, Ryne William (Shelly) Germinder, Cody Lee (Kayla) Germinder, Cory Tyler (Priscilla) Germinder; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Xavier, Elijah, Brian, Desirae, Kyler, Koen, Karlee, Korben and Miles. Donna is also survived by her two wonderful brothers: Tom Drake of Paw Paw, and Garry Drake of Bangor, Mich.

The family has entrusted Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford with arrangements. Cremation has taken place, and a luncheon and celebration of life, for family and friends, will be from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Ted and Donna's home. Burial will take place in Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donna's honor may be made to Caring Circle of Corewell Health Lakeland, St. Joseph or the Hartford Fire Department.
