Darlene Delores Seddon

October 5, 1934 — February 2, 2013

Darlene Delores (Winkelkotter) Seddon, 78, of Hartford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. She was born Oct. 5, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Walter Egon and Ida Caroline Winkelkotter.

Darlene attended school in Utah. She had many interesting occupations in her life; one of her favorites was being a flight attendant in California before she married. She met her husband, Ellis George Seddon, while he was stationed in the Air Force, in Utah, during the Korean War. They were married in 1956, in Michigan. They started out their lives together farming in northeastern Michigan and later built a successful business in Hartford.

Darlene was an extremely talented and giving person. Family meant everything to her and she cherished each and every moment, especially those when all her children and grandchildren surrounded her. Her faith was also immensely important, being a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Darlene is survived by her children: Judy Seddon of Orem, Utah; Shelly (Bryan) Paxson of Hartford; Stephen (Christine) Seddon of Hartford and Christopher (Melissa) Seddon of Niles. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Rachel Paxson, Rebecca Paxson, Amy Seddon, Kassie Seddon, Alexander Seddon, Jaxon Seddon and Jaret Seddon.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Michael Seddon (whose birthday she passed away on), her parents and her sister, Carolyn Christiensen.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. Darlene's funeral service and burial will take place at Redwood Memorial Estates in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family is very grateful to those that assisted in helping her as her health declined and wish to express gratitude for the kindness shown our mother by Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw, Hospice of Southwest Michigan and Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lawton.
