Danny Ray Weston, 74, of Hartford passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at Select Speciality Hospital, Battle Creek.
Danny was born July 30, 1947, in Watervliet, the son of Lawrence and Beatrice (Smith) Weston, both of whom precede him in passing. Also preceding him in passing are his son, Danny Dwight Weston on Jan. 16, 2000; and a sister, Leona McKinney.
Danny proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a farmer at heart. Uncle Dan, as he was known to so many, spent much of his life on a tractor working the ground for his family’s farm, then later worked for both Vassar Farms and Kuehnle Farms. When he wasn’t in the fields, you would find him cheering on his favorite high school basketball team, enjoying coffee with his buddies, spoiling his grandchildren and taking long drives with his wife of almost 55 years.
Danny married the former Toni Blanton on Sept. 2, 1966, and she survives, along with a son, Lenny (Jill) Weston of Hartford; three grandchildren: Taylor (Andy) Kucharski of Paw Paw, Caleb Weston and Chloe Weston, both of Hartford; a great-grandson, Parker Kucharski of Paw Paw; three sisters: Leola (Ken) Wendzel, Lucy Nugent and Hazel Vassar; a brother, Dick (Debbie) Weston; and many other family members and friends.
As per Danny’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to honor his memory will commence at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at the Hartford Bible Church, with Pastor Benjamin Williamson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
