Dan Leroy Hamilton

Dan Leroy Hamilton, 63 of Hartford passed away suddenly Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Watervliet.

Dan was born March 8, 1950, in Harrisburg, Ark., the son of Miles and Geneva (Cooper) Hamilton, both of whom preceded him in passing. Also preceding him in passing were a granddaughter, Azure Skie Hamilton, on June 12, 1998; three brothers: Gerald, Dave and Dan Hamilton; a sister, Brenda Barrett; and mother and father-in-laws, Gloria and Charles Schmidt.

Dan was formerly employed with Shafer Lake Fruit Inc. He loved trains, time spent with his family, movies and reading.

Dan is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children: Barbara (Tye) Madison of Hartford, Jene (Jeana) Hamilton of Mattawan and Amy (Tyler Tlewniek) Hamilton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren: Nick, Tasha, Stephen, Jacob and Connor; and nine brothers and sisters: Nancy (Kenneth), Johnny (Terry), Sherman, Curtis (Tammy), Sandy, Becky (Dan), Gloria, Chuck and Rich (Diane).

The family will welcome friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Hartford Federated Church, where the service will be at 2 p.m. The Rev. David Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Watervliet. Memorial donations in Dan's name may be made to the family.
