Curtis Gene Welty

March 21, 1939 — October 30, 2013

Curtis Gene Welty was born on March 21, 1939, and passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. He was the youngest of seven children born to Basil and Maggie (Cook) Welty.

Curtis married the former Betty Jane Maddox on May 17, 1958. He was a devoted husband and father who truly enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Curtis was formerly employed and retired from Whirlpool Corp. He owned and operated the Curtis Welty and Son Welding Shop in Hartford from 1982 to 2009 and also served as a chaplain at Watervliet Community Hospital for a number of years.

Curtis is survived by his three children: Curtis Wayne (Audrey) Welty, Kevin Welty and Candace Welty; and his seven grandchildren: Candra Janisse, Dustin, Christa, Tiffany, Curtis, Paige and Nolan Welty.

His wife, Betty, passed away April 20 this year. He was also preceded in passing by his parents; stepmother, Clara (Clay) Welty; a sister, Mildred DeMay; and five brothers: David, William, Earl, Norman and Vernon Welty.

The family will welcome friends from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where his celebration of life service will commence at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Davis officiating. As to Curtis' wishes, cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Curtis' name may be made to Hospice at Home or His Place Cathedral of Faith.
