Charlotte was born March 19, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Kate Baer. She spent her life giving to others as a Sunday school teacher for 59 years, women's council president for 14 years, and activities director at Hope Nursing Home for 5 years. Charlotte was fondly remembered for 17 years as a cook at Christie Lake Bible Camp, local restaurants, and Lawrence Public Schools. Just last month someone gave her a big hug because they recognized their favorite "school lunch lady." Not only did Charlotte work throughout the surrounding communities, but she also opened her home for various bible study groups and women's meetings. Every holiday was spent at Grandma's house. We began the day with Grandma's sermon and ended the night with a family game of UNO. Charlotte was an avid reader who read daily from her bible and shared her thirst for knowledge with anyone who would listen. She was a great listener who always took the time to hear your story, share advice, and make you feel loved.
Charlotte was married to Jim Stevens until his death in 2005. She is survived by her children Alice Minaga, Lynn Nash, Joyce Link, and Chuck Stevens, along with 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
