Cary Van De Wiele, 52, of Hartford passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at his home.
Cary was born on Nov. 2, 1970, in Berrien Springs, the son of Maurice and Virginia (Watkins) Van De Wiele.
Cary held a paramedic license for 30 years and proudly served the communities of Hartford and Keeler fire and rescue departments. He was employed at the Four Winds Casino as a security/first responder for the last 10 years. Cary was a lifelong Trekkie and Metal Head.
Cary is survived by his mother, Virginia of Hartford; a sister, Melissa Van De Wiele of Hartford; a niece, Nia, who was his favorite person in the whole world; and special friends: Ashley and Gipper. Cary was preceded in passing by his father, Maurice.
The family will welcome friends from 4-6 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Hartford United Methodist Church, where the service to honor his memory will commence at 6 p.m., with Pastor Douglas Tipken officiating. Following the service, everyone is welcome to join the family at the Hartford Fire Station for a time of fellowship, food, and refreshments. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Hartford and/or Keeler fire departments. The Calvin Funeral Home of Hartford is assisting the family with arrangements.
